The 12th International Symposium on Bilingualism (ISB12) will take place at the University of Alberta from June 23 to 28, 2019, with an opening ceremony on the evening of June 23. ISB is an interdisciplinary conference addressing issues related to bilingualism and multilingualism. This year’s theme is ‘The Next Generation’.

Dear colleagues, At the next ISB in Edmonton, we will organize an election for the next Chair, the next Secretary and the next two Consulting Members. The Steering Committee of ISN consists of six persons: one Chair, one Secretary, the outgoing and current organizer, and two Consulting Members. The outgoing organizer is Tadhg Ó hIfearnáin; the current organizer is Elena Nicoladis; and the incoming one will be Piotr Romanowski. The current Consulting Members are Monika Schmid and Virginia Yip, who were elected at the previous ISB in Limerick. The Chair (Ad Backus) and the Secretary (Mila Schwartz) will reach the end of their tenure this year. At the Business Meeting during the conference, we will organize an election for these four positions; through this message we now ask for nominations. Please send the name of any person you wish to nominate for either of these positions, along with a short motivation (two or three lines), and do so before 27 May 2019.
