Research overview
You are invited to participate in a research study being conducted by Kimberly Noels, Ph.D. at the Department of Psychology, University of Alberta. The purpose of this study is to examine patterns of ethnic identity and language in Chinese immigrants over the course of their first and second years in Canada. You will participate in an interview concerning Chinese immigrants living in Alberta, including your feelings of identity and experience learning and using English. You will also be asked to complete several language activities in English.
Participant criteria
1. Born in Mainland China (not in HongKong and Taiwan)
2. Permanent Resident (You must land in Canada as a PR rather than student or visitor at the first time)
3. We need two groups of participants（time will be changed according to the interview date)
1）landed in Canada less than and include 6 months (participants landed in Canada after Sep, 2015);
2）landed in Canada 3 or 4 years ago and have lived in Canada at least for one and half years (participants landed in Canada between Feb 2012 and March 2013);
4. Between 18 to 75 years of old
5. Participants will be excluded if he or she have lived in other English countries (e.g., America, England, Australia and so on) for more than one year.

中国移民在加拿大语言与民族身份认同的研究
研究目的
我们诚邀你参加一项针对在阿尔伯塔省生活的中国移民的访谈研究。访谈的内容包括你对自己民族身份的认同, 以及英语学习和使用的体验。同时，你还需要完成几项英语语言测试。访谈研究大概需要一个到一个半小时。此研究不会公开你的任何个人信息。为了配合你的工作和学习时间安排，测试和访谈将主要在周末或晚上进行。
研究对象
- 出生在中国大陆 (非港澳台地区)；
- 移民身份：必须是以移民身份来到加拿大，而非以其它身份（如留学生，探亲陪读）来到加拿大后再转为移民身份；
- 移民时间：我们需要以下两组移民（登陆时间会根据访谈时候有所改变）：
1）登陆加拿大0－6个月（含6个月）的移民 （在2015年9月及以后移民登陆）
2）或登陆加拿大3－4年并在加拿大生活了至少一年半（在2012年2月到2013年3月间登陆）；
- 年龄：18至75岁
- 在移民加拿大之前，曾经在英语国家（如美国、英国、澳大利亚等）生活超过一年以上，均不符合本研究要求
