Congratulations to Psychology Undergraduate Honours students Anna Romero and Chloe King for their NSERC USRI! This summer, they will be coding autobiographical memory narratives to examine the influence of visual perspective on episodic and semantic details.

We recently published a paper in NeuroImage examining the differential contribution of anterior and posterior midline regions during mental simulation of counterfactual and perspective shifts in autobiographical memories. This was in collaboration with Dr. Felipe De Brigard’s Imagination and Modal Cognition Lab at Duke University.

We published a new preprint on how third-person experiences in virtual reality influence memory.

The last few months have been challenging for the ME lab, as due to COVID-19 we’ve had to stop testing in the middle of the Winter 2020 term and close down our physical lab. However, we’ve continued lab activities in virtual space with some Zoom meetings and even an online game night featuring a “pub quiz” and cards for humanity to celebrate the end of term:
