I am currently accepting applications for student to complete Independent/Individual study (PSYCO 496/498) on the Psychology of Teaching and Learning. This course will cover what research in psychology and education can tell us about how learning in university takes place, and how this knowledge can be applied to the teaching and learning in undergraduate psychology courses. The practical component of this course involves students acting as undergraduate learning assistants (ULAs) to lead workshops or facilitate class activities in real undergraduate courses. Skills developed during this course will be relevant to future teachers, academics, coaches, managers/supervisors, those working with clients to develop new skills, or anyone who intends to continue teaching and/or learning new skills.
The Independent or Individual Study students completing this course in the Summer 2020 will be working to design interactive learning elements to be embedded in online versions of PSYCO 105 (Individual and Social Behavior), 212 (Introduction to Research Methods), or 241 (Social Psychology) course. To be eligible for this Independent/Individual Study opportunity, students must have successfully completed the course for which they would create interactive elements. If you are interested in applying to complete this PSYCO 496/498 course in the Summer, please email an unofficial copy of your transcript and a current CV/resume to jpassey@ualberta.ca. You will also need to complete an application form found here: https://forms.gle/jRH8yrcuGVLsBcFQ6

The ULAs role in PSYCO 241 will include facilitating in-class discussion and activities (via Zoom), and holding a virtual student hour each week to answer student questions. Students must have completed PSYCO 241 in order to be eligible for this Independent/Individual Study opportunity.
