“I am an Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in the Cognitive Neuroscience of Memory in the Department of Psychology at the University of Alberta. In the Memory for Events (ME) Lab<\/a>, we study the cognitive and neural mechanisms that support how people remember real-life events, including autobiographical memories from the personal past. We\u2019re especially interested in the constructive nature of memory\u2014how we update, enhance, or sometimes distort our memories over time. Our research combines functional MRI (fMRI), immersive virtual reality, and behavioral methods to explore memory in more naturalistic and engaging ways. One of my favorite autobiographical memories is getting up early to eat breakfast ramen at Tokyo Ramen Station in Japan. I\u2019m excited to serve as the faculty representative for the UPA and to support psychology students as they navigate their degrees and prepare for what comes next\u2014whether in research, clinical work, or beyond.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
