{"id":784,"date":"2022-05-20T10:39:59","date_gmt":"2022-05-20T16:39:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.psych.ualberta.ca\/MElab\/?p=784"},"modified":"2022-05-20T10:58:01","modified_gmt":"2022-05-20T16:58:01","slug":"spring-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.psych.ualberta.ca\/MElab\/spring-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We recently published a paper in the journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/loi\/pmem20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Memory<\/em><\/a> examining the effect of shifting visual perspective on both episodic and semantic details during autobiographical memory retrieval. This paper was part of a Psychology Honours thesis on the part of Chloe King and Anna Romero. Check out the paper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/eprint\/VD5PBHU5CQ7YIXJ2KPIU\/full?target=10.1080\/09658211.2022.2061003\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Huge congratulations to Anna Romero who received the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca\/Students-Etudiants\/PG-CS\/CGSM-BESCM_eng.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NSERC Canada Graduate Scholarship &#8211; Master\u2019s<\/a>! This will fund Anna\u2019s first year as a MSc student in the Memory for Events Lab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In April, the Psychology Department hosted the annual <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ualberta.ca\/psychology\/news-and-events\/royce-harder-research-conference\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Royce-Harder Conference<\/a>. This year Psychology Undergraduate Students Milan Kalra and Shanela David presented their Honours theses. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Psych_UAlberta\/status\/1512169592260493319\" target=\"_blank\">Milan\u2019s<\/a> thesis was on 360 3D videos and emotion VR, and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Psych_UAlberta\/status\/1512504297845493761\" target=\"_blank\">Shanela\u2019s<\/a> was a meta-analysis examining the impact of visual perspective on emotional intensity. Dr. St. Jacques was the invited internal speaker at the conference where she discussed how adopting different visual perspectives during retrieval can reshape memories and neuroimaging evidence suggesting specific brain areas involved in supporting visual perspective.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We had our first in-person lab meeting in over two years!
