The Thriving Study <\/h3>\n

The purpose of this study is to examine motivations for learning second languages and examine the relationship to well-being. <\/span>This research may contribute to the advancement of our understanding of psychological processes related to language learning and motivation, which may help educators and administrators make rational strategic decisions regarding curriculum development.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Multicultural Identity Study <\/h3>\n

The purpose of this study is to better understand the experiences of people from multicultural backgrounds who often interact with members of other ethnic, religious, and linguistic groups. This research can potentially contribute to the advancement of our understanding of psychological processes of people living in multicultural societies.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Chinese Longitudinal Study<\/h3>\n
\n\t

In this study, we are interested in how mainland Chinese immigrants adapt to life in Alberta. We ask participants about their experiences with learning and using English in their daily lives and about their feelings of ethnic identity.<\/p>\nParticipate in the Chinese Longitudinal Study

\u7814\u7a76\u76ee\u7684
\n\u6211\u4eec\u8bda\u9080\u4f60\u53c2\u52a0\u4e00\u9879\u9488\u5bf9\u5728\u963f\u5c14\u4f2f\u5854\u7701\u751f\u6d3b\u7684\u4e2d\u56fd\u79fb\u6c11\u7684\u8bbf\u8c08\u7814\u7a76\u3002\u8bbf\u8c08\u7684\u5185\u5bb9\u5305\u62ec\u4f60\u5bf9\u81ea\u5df1\u6c11\u65cf\u8eab\u4efd\u7684\u8ba4\u540c, \u4ee5\u53ca\u82f1\u8bed\u5b66\u4e60\u548c\u4f7f\u7528\u7684\u4f53\u9a8c\u3002\u540c\u65f6\uff0c\u4f60\u8fd8\u9700\u8981\u5b8c\u6210\u51e0\u9879\u82f1\u8bed\u8bed\u8a00\u6d4b\u8bd5\u3002\u8bbf\u8c08\u7814\u7a76\u5927\u6982\u9700\u8981\u4e00\u4e2a\u534a\u5230\u5169\u4e2a\u5c0f\u65f6\u3002\u6b64\u7814\u7a76\u4e0d\u4f1a\u516c\u5f00\u4f60\u7684\u4efb\u4f55\u4e2a\u4eba\u4fe1\u606f\u3002\u4e3a\u4e86\u914d\u5408\u4f60\u7684\u5de5\u4f5c\u548c\u5b66\u4e60\u65f6\u95f4\u5b89\u6392\uff0c\u6d4b\u8bd5\u548c\u8bbf\u8c08\u5c06\u4e3b\u8981\u5728\u5468\u672b\u6216\u665a\u4e0a\u8fdb\u884c\u3002<\/p>\n

Acculturation dynamics of language and ethnic identity development<\/strong><\/p>\n

Research overview:
\nYou are invited to participate in a research study being conducted by Kimberly Noels, Ph.D. at the Department of Psychology, University of Alberta. The study involves an interview concerning Chinese immigrants living in Alberta, including your feelings of identity and experience learning and using English. This study also includes several language activities in English.<\/p>\n
