Using a variety of neuroscience techniques we study the neurophysiology, neuroanatomy and neurochemisty of the cerebellum. The emphasis is on the organization of visual “optic flow” information in the cerebellum, mainly using pigeons and hummingbirds (collaborative work with Doug Altshuler’s at University of British Columbia). We also examine brain evolution in relation to sensory processing and other behaviours by using a collection of brains from over 150 species of birds (collaborative work with Andy Iwaniuk’s lab at Lethbridge) and other reptiles.
